Overview

Paddy Cafe & Restaurant is a serene retreat nestled amidst the lush paddy fields of Kampung Permatang Bogak in Pulau Pinang. This café embraces its scenic surroundings, offering diners not just food but an experience where nature and cuisine harmoniously blend. The calming view of waving green rice paddies sets a tranquil backdrop, ideal for those seeking a quiet escape from the urban rush.

The menu at Paddy Cafe caters to a diverse palate, with a strong emphasis on hearty breakfast and café-style classics. Signature dishes such as the Paddy Breakfast Plate and Egg Benedict provide a comforting start to the day, while the Chicken Chop and Swedish Meatballs add satisfying, well-prepared options for lunch or dinner. Pasta lovers will appreciate the expertly crafted Beef Bolognaise or the fresh Aglio Olio Prawn, which bring a touch of Italian familiarity to this Malaysian gem. For a lighter bite, the Mushroom Soup and Wantan Mee offer comforting flavors rich in local character.

Beverages complement the food beautifully, with an array of aromatic coffee drinks like Ice Hazelnut Latte and Double Shot Cappuccino. The café’s frappes and matcha blends showcase a thoughtful attention to both taste and presentation, inviting guests to linger over their cups while enjoying the open-air ambiance. Whether you opt for the Mocha Frappe or the refreshing Passion Fruit Frappe, the drinks provide a satisfying counterpart to the meal.

The atmosphere is a key highlight here. With indoor seating thoughtfully designed to blend comfort and simplicity, and ample outdoor seating where one can enjoy the fresh air amidst the paddies, the space suits a varied audience. From intimate dates and solo contemplations to small gatherings with friends, Paddy Cafe’s environment encourages relaxation and connection. However, some guests have noted that ventilation indoors can get warm when crowded, an area that could elevate the overall comfort if addressed.

Service at Paddy Cafe varies according to guest reports; while many appreciate the friendly and attentive staff, others mention delays or the need to self-serve menus. Despite this, the staff’s warmth and the restaurant’s charm often smooth over the occasional hiccup. Parking is generally convenient, with ample space given its countryside setting, though peak times may affect ease of access.

In terms of pricing, the café is perceived as mid to slightly premium, reflecting both the quality of ingredients and the unique atmosphere it offers. Portions are generally generous, though some guests feel the value could be improved to better align with expectations. The highlight remains the combination of great food paired with a rare natural setting, making Paddy Cafe & Restaurant worth the visit for food lovers looking for a peaceful culinary escape surrounded by beauty.

Love the paddy field view. Cosy place and well maintain. Service quite fast depends on situation. For people who love some dessert the have a quiet variation of it. A bit pricey for some menu but all depends on your budget. The also provide outdoor sitting. Easy outdoor parking depends on situations and time.

Visited a lovely café with a stunning paddy field view as the backdrop truly a relaxing and scenic spot to unwind. The food was delicious and well-prepared, definitely worth trying. However, the service was a bit slow, so I’d recommend coming here when you’re not super hungry. It’s a great place to chill, enjoy the view, and take your time. Perfect for a peaceful outing or catch-up session with friends away from the busy town.

Pricey. The price doesn't match up with the food portion. Need to improve services, we been told to wait for the waitress to send the menu, but in the end we have to self service to take our own menu and orders. But the ambience is nice, since it is surrounded by paddy fields.

The dining experience at Paddy Cafe was definitely worth the trip from afar. However, it would be great if something could be done to improve the ventilation, as the dining area gets quite warm when it’s full of customers. As for the food we ordered, everything was delicious and satisfying. The portion sizes were generous and sufficient for one person. Well done We waited almost 10 minutes to receive our drinks: 2 iced teas, an orange juice, and a mango frappe. Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken – 9/10 (The sambal was really tasty!!) White Rice with Sweet & Sour Prawns – 9/10 (The prawns were not cleaned thoroughly there were still traces of dirt on the back of the prawns. Hopefully, this can be improved.) White Rice with Fish Head Curry – 8/10

Simply breathtaking. What a nice and soothing feeling to be able to enjoy great food while looking at these beautiful, scenic views. The way the decorate this cafe also light up the mood. Did try their fish and chips. Really satisfied with how big the portion is. Their tartar sauce is not the best, but not bad either. I like their batter, give that nice golden brown crisp to the fish while maintaining its texture. Loves the salad that comes alongside. Their swedish meatballs is a must try. Cooked nicely while keeping it tenderness, complimented by a great black pepper sauce. Lovely. Not to forget their iced hazelnut chocolate. Milky, nutty, creamy, just the right drink for hot sunny weather. Can’t get enough of this. Greatly priced, considering how well their meal are portioned. Every cent well spent. Kudos to their staff for delivering a great service. Keep up the great work. Do come during the peak of paddy season to enjoy those lovely yellowish green scenery. Definitely a must repeat cafe.
